DNA Direct, a San Francisco-based company, is offering a new service wherein customers can quickly and easily store their personal DNA in their own homes without paying a visit to a lab or doctor’s office. For $175, customers receive a kit with everything they need to extract a little DNA. First, customers send a cheek swab to DNA Direct. A few weeks later, the customer will receive a three specially-packed personal DNA samples that they can store at room temperature anywhere they choose. It couldn’t be any easier.
What’s interesting is how high-end, high-tech genetic “procedures” are becoming increasingly more convenient and low-cost. With advances in genetic sciences happening every day, there’s certainly a market for DNA archiving. Learn more at DNA Direct.
